Rich was raised in Manchester, Massachusetts where he still maintains headquarters for Renco Corporation. He still resides on the Northshore of Massachusetts. Renehan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Merrimack College in North Andover and then taught English to doctors and executives in Spain.
Renehan is owner and CEO of Renco Corporation, a 63 year old, USA manufacturer of gloves, polymers and and safety products. Renco serves thousands of historical customers including university and government laboratories, manufacturing facilities and hospitals. Renco’s products solve safety concerns for medical and laboratory contamination control, for sterile processing, and for medical and emergency containment applications, including Covid-19 safety protocols.
In 2018, Renehan started American Performance Polymers (APP) to preserve the need for US manufacturing of medical exam gloves and to meet the needs for USA supply chains. The APP factory in Colebrook, New Hampshire, still produces neoprene and nitrile medical gloves to support the US IBx. Next ventures under study include a Natural Gas to hydrogen powered Data Center supporting LLMs for advanced polymer and automated manufacturing process R&D. The company is advancing xNBR (nitrile raw material) and other processes for glove manufacturing and device sterilization.
During Covid-19, Renco was the recipient of over $70 million from the United States Defense Production Act to urgently address the critical need for medical glove manufacturing and raw material on-shoring in the USA. The company employed hundreds of glove manufacturing experts throughout the Pandemic at American Performance Polymers. The contract was completed in 2023 and Renco is currently in a new phase to optimize these assets. Renehan has served on the FEMA Industrial Base Expansion working group (IBx) and on the Whitehouse/OMB Digital Stockpile committee.
Renehan had been a member of the Standards Committee of the American Glovebox Society since 1991 and presented white papers at several annual conventions and at conferences for the ISPE (International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers) and the PDA (Parenteral Drug Association). Renehan has been published in the A2C2, Cleanrooms Magazine and more recently in Facility and Safety Management. He has been quoted many times on cleanroom, medical, polymer, safety and glove topics.
Richard’s hobbies include snorkeling, swimming, and business development. He served on the board of www.searts.org, was appointed to a Manchester by the Sea housing board, and was a “Big Brother” for 8 years in the Big Brother Association. Renehan also volunteered with the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE).
